Chapter Chat 9 - Before Reading Task

We are taking part in Chapter Chat 9 which is based on Twitter.  This is our first task which we worked together to complete today.  We are looking forward to starting this book!

Look at the cover, why do you think these pictures have been used?

- So other people will be creative (Devon)
- Because these pictures have never been used before (Jake)
- A house might be in front of them and they have come back for something that has been stolen (Nixon)
- It matches the title - they are escaping and looking (Olivia)
- They are escaping from prison (Hendrix)
- They are the main characters and this might happen in the story (Zaira).

Think about the title, what illustrations would you expect to be on the cover?
- Some other prisoners escaping (Beia)
- A prison with a Sasquatch in it (Thea)
- Police trying to catch the monkey guy (Isabella)
- Sasquatch ninjas (Hayley)
- People running away from something bad (Veisinia)
- The Sasquatch in front of a broken wall escaping (Rocky)

Read the BLURB, now why do you think these illustrations have been used?
- The monkey and the dragon are in the blurb (Paras).
- They are trying to smuggle the Sasquatch from the vet or the hideout (Sam).
- They were talking the dragon to the vet but then the gorilla are following them (Eli).
-There is a girl and a boy and the furry surprise and the dragon on the cover and the blurb (Emelie M).

What we have learnt about the author Suzanne Selfors:

1. Her husband is a pilot.
2. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
3. She has two children that go to college.
4. Her favourite food is chocolate and she eats it every day!
5. She made her first childrens book in 2005 which was published in 2007.
